OLO

COMMUNITY

OLO (Organized to Lead Our) Community is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and affiliate of Teamed Up for Good - A Social Purpose Corporation. Our Mission prioritizes long-lasting investment in community, with community, and is inspired by Our Motivation to see radically improved outcomes through Our Method anchored in prioritizing an individualized, Face-Based approach that intentionally links a community’s children with vital opportunities, powered by Our Mobilizers who are committed to leveraging their knowledge and expertise to eliminate the persistent systemic barriers preventing access to a limitless future.

REAL Futures™ is a framework and approach that reflects a fervent belief that students are most engaged when the content of their learning makes sense in the context of the lives they are living. From very beginning, every child has the capacity to dream big about what they believe is possible. REAL Futures™ both aids young people and their communities by ensuring there is access to opportunity and a path to realize the promise of their full potential.

Our Mission

OLO Community  works collectively with communities and their champions to power purposeful, long lasting change by linking young people to the resources to fulfill the promise of their full potential for the future.

Our Motivation

For generation upon generation we have known the neighborhoods, schools, and children that are best positioned for success and those that are not. We have long understood why communities of color facing violence and under investment with limited access to healthy food, high quality healthcare, and economic opportunity, despite their striving and resilience, continue to struggle. These and other critical socio-political factors are the impetus for the OLO Community and its support of community to organize and foster vital linkages for a radically different reality.

Our Method

With the support of champions committed and connected to their communities – OLO convenes, connects, consults and enlists community to design and stand-up OLO Community Collectives. Collectives exist within a geographic footprint, encompassing all or part of a neighborhood, and provide key linkages to opportunities and resources where barriers currently exist. With this ‘Face-based’ approach, students are intentionally identified to become part of the Collective ONE (Opportunity for Next-level Excellence) Group and along with their families, are linked with a Community Champion and a Community Connector to receive deep touch supports that will be monitored for impact.
